Architecture:

On Architecture: I chose these photographs because of their respective reflections of built environments. I find that, in one way or another, each photograph conveys a universal image; how lines come together to make forms and shapes, whatever they may be. In some cases, buildings become unified, looking like simple children’s building blocks, while in other photographs lines draw the eye, pulling the image forwards and backwards. The subjects go from the more manufactured landscapes of skyscrapers in New York City to a simple wood canopy on a beach in Cuba; this variety adds to their allure: architecture is not limited to the simple grids of a drawing board. When we look closely, it is clear that the ideal of architecture transcends the image of regular buildings and monuments; these images suggest just that- architecture can easily be found beyond concrete jungles.
